Denson leaves big shoes to fill in Bartram Trail Defense

The city of Jacksonville has always produced premier football players, especially at the defensive back position. From back in the “good old days” with NFL Hall of Fame players like Leroy Butler and Brian Dawkins to  Lito Sheppard and Rashean Mathis, the talent that comes from this area has been nothing short of electrifying over at least the past 3 decades. One defensive back that stands out like a sore thumb to various colleges around the country in this 2023 senior class is Bartram Trail’s Sharif Denson. The 4 star cornerback has great size at 5’11, 170 lbs and long arms, which contributes to tons of pass break-ups and interceptions. This kid is a dynamic playmaker that makes opposing offensive coordinators hesitate to throw the ball his way. With the tremendous amount of talent that he possesses, Denson managed to earn himself a 2022 Times Union Super 11 selection. In late June of 2022, the four year starter capitalized on all of the opportunities and exposure he received by committing to the University of Florida. Traditionally speaking, division-1 programs like UF are not impressed by raw talent alone and Denson is the type of player that is not afraid to find other ways to contribute to the success of his team. This type of mentality is what has led the Bartram Trail Bears (9-0) to an undefeated regular season and a top 10 state ranking thus far. Over his remarkable career at Bartram Trail High school, Sharif Denson has recorded nearly 150 tackles with 105 solo tackles, 4 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. This phenomenal effort was a heavy contribution to Bartram Trail’s 12 game winning streak during the 2023 season. It also earned Denson a spot in the 2023 Under Armor All-American game and a chance to be an early enrollee at the University of Florida. With the right guidance and polishing, it shouldn’t be long before the entire country knows who Sharif Denson is.
