Nease to Host Fleming Island

This season has kicked off to a great start with some exciting games played through the last few weeks. Today is no different as the Nease Panthers host Fleming Island. The Panthers (0-2) look to put a tally in the win column as they have faced some early adversity for this season so far.  For the Panthers, defense will be a primary focal point this week. For the past two games, they have given up 92 points. Nease has also had struggles offensively. They have a lot of talent on the team, especially with their highly recruited Quarterback, Marcus Stokes. The Florida commit has gotten off to a slow start this year passing for slightly over 350 yards, 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions over the last two weeks. The Nease Panthers certainly have their work cut out for them as they take on the Fleming Island Golden Eagles (2-0). Fleming Island started off this season with two convincing wins over Clay High and Tallahassee Richards. This Fleming Island team is not your typical one dimensional team with a strong and passing attack. With quite a few talented running backs, the Golden Eagles have themselves some star power with Times Union Super 11 selection Sam Singleton leading the way rushing for 119 yards and 3 touchdowns over 2 games. Although he hasn’t gotten as many carries, it is obvious that the Florida State commit has been getting a lot of rest during the games because of the team’s high success rate. Leading the way for Fleming Island at receiver is senior Brenden Cook with 6 receptions for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns. It will be exciting to see how well these two talented teams play against one another. The game will be played at Nease High School on Friday, September 9th at 7:00 pm. This will be a great game.
