Trojans locked in on Creekside!

Last week in the Kickoff Classic against the First Coast Buccaneers, the Ribault Trojans gave the people of Northeast Florida a small dose of what they would be in for this season. In past years, these two Northside juggernauts going head-to-head has always been seen as a rivalry of some sort. So for the sake of bragging rights alone, both teams seem to always bring their best every time they play. This appears to be an extremely tough, balanced team as the Trojan offense ripped off some huge run plays and an early touchdown, while the defense got an early interception and a sack late in the game. This offense will be led with speed and veteran leadership by junior Quarterback Nick Jones, veteran offensive lineman Shumaryon Sassnet and junior wide receiver Jourdyn Smith-Williams. Defensively, they have senior linebacker Breon Jordan, senior defensive Carmello Cooper, and senior defensive end Zavontray Brown. Head ball coach Marlon  White appeared to be as confident as they come about his team. “These guys are young but they have a lot of talent and speed is our most valuable attribute”, said head coach Marlon White when asked what his team will bring to the table for the 2021 season. The most vital part of this team’s success will be based around the defense and stopping the run. When asked what game he is looking forward to the most, coach White replied with “ I’m just looking forward to watching this team grow from one week to the next, starting with Creekside”. With their focus locked in on their week 1 opponent, the Trojan defense will have their work cut out for them as they prepare for the Creekside Knights and their stud senior running back, Preston Strope. Strope finished the 2020 season with over 1,300 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns for the Knights. This game should be a good measuring stick for both teams as they look forward to getting off to a great start for the 2021 season. Kick-off will be Saturday August 28th, 3:30pm at Bolles.
